ARAIK TUNYAN
Judge of the Constitutional Court

Araik Tunyan was born on January 6, 1966 in Stepanavan.

From 1984 to 1986 he served in the Soviet Army.

In 1991 he graduated with honors from the Department of Law of Moscow State University.

In 1995 he took postgraduate study at Russian Academy of Sciences and obtained his PhD in Law.

In 2004 he was awarded a qualification in “Economics and Business” in Regional Institute of Information Technologies at the World Trade Organization (Egypt, Cairo).

In 2007 he was awarded a qualification in “European Integration - Constitutional and Legislative Reforms” at the Secretariat of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe (Italy, Trieste).

1999 - 2005 he worked as Senior Specialist at the Department of Legislative Issues, he was Deputy Head of Department of Legislative Issues, Head of Division of Economic Legislation of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

Since 2000 he is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University.

Since 2004 he is the Head of the Department of Civil Law and Civil Procedure at the Faculty of Law of the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University.

From 2005 to 2007 he was the Head of the State Legal Department of the Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

From 2007 to 2014 he was the Head of the Legal Department of the Office of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

On June 9, 2014 he was appointed as a Member of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia by the Decision of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

In 2002 he was awarded the First Rank Legal Adviser.

On December 29, 2011 he was awarded by the President of the Republic of Armenia the decree of the First Rank Legal Adviser of the Civil Service of the Republic of Armenia.

On December 28, 2013 he was awarded by the President of the Republic of Armenia with “Mkhitar Gosh” Medal.

PhD in law sciences, docent.

Author of scientific articles on the Theory of Law, Civil Law, Civil Procedure Law and Land Law.

Married, has a son and a daughter.
